Weekends see heavy Bengaluru outbound traffic from 7 am. Leave earlier or go midweek. The expressway has strict speed enforcement with cameras throughout — the fines are issued automatically and arrive by post.
Facilities on the expressway are still limited. Fuel up in Bengaluru, and if you want a proper meal the old road's Maddur vada stops are worth the detour.
About ₹250 for a car one way across the two plazas on the Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway. The return within 24 hours on FASTag is charged at 1.5 times, not double.
Two to two and a half hours on the expressway, against three or more on the old road.
Roughly ₹725 of petrol for a hatchback plus ₹250 toll, so about ₹975 one way. A diesel SUV works out near ₹1,000.
No. Two-wheelers, three-wheelers and slow-moving vehicles are barred from the access-controlled sections and must use the service roads or the old highway.
