Which route to take

Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway (NH-275) is the main road for this trip. The old road through Ramanagara and Channapatna is toll-free and lined with the silk and toy shops the area is known for, but it takes well over three hours.

When to leave

Weekends see heavy Bengaluru outbound traffic from 7 am. Leave earlier or go midweek. The expressway has strict speed enforcement with cameras throughout — the fines are issued automatically and arrive by post.

Where to stop

Facilities on the expressway are still limited. Fuel up in Bengaluru, and if you want a proper meal the old road's Maddur vada stops are worth the detour.
