Mumbai to Pune on the expressway is India's original access-controlled highway and still one of its busiest — three hours door to door on a clear run, considerably more on a Friday evening.

| Khalapur | ₹168 |

| Total | ₹336 |
Mumbai–Pune Expressway is the main road for this trip. The old NH-48 through Lonavala is free of expressway toll and prettier, but slower and much busier with local traffic.
Friday evening out of Mumbai and Sunday evening back are both heavily congested. Early morning is clear. Monsoon brings landslide risk and fog in the ghat section around Lonavala, where the road narrows and speeds drop sharply.
The food malls at Khalapur and Lonavala are the standard halts. Both have fuel, toilets and chain restaurants.
About ₹336 one way for a car, collected at Khalapur and Talegaon. Rates are revised periodically, and the calculator on this page reflects the current figure.
Around ₹750 of petrol for a hatchback at 19 km/l over 150 km, plus ₹336 toll — roughly ₹1,090 one way. A diesel SUV comes to about ₹1,120.
Three hours on a normal day. Four or more on Friday evenings and Sunday returns.
Only if you want the Lonavala scenery or are avoiding toll. It adds a good hour and the ghat traffic is tiring.
